Why Nutrition Matters Just as Much as Exercise

At Forever Health Studios, in Kempston, Bedford, we know that achieving better health isn't just about what happens during your workout - it's also about what you do before, after and throughout the rest of your day.
Last week, our members enjoyed a fantastic Bite Size Nutrition Workshop,
kindly delivered by Lidia and Grant (Health Director at Forever Health Studios), focusing on one of the simplest yet most powerful ways to improve your health: understanding how and when we eat.
The session explored why breaking your overnight fast correctly can have a positive impact on your energy levels, metabolism and long-term wellbeing. It was a great reminder that improving your health doesn't require drastic diets or complicated meal plans. Often, it's the small, consistent habits that make the biggest difference.
Why Breaking Your Fast Matters
Many of us have heard the term intermittent fasting, but understanding what actually happens inside your body can help you make better nutritional choices.
Giving your digestive system a break overnight allows your body time to reset and
can support healthy metabolic function. As your fasting period continues, your body gradually switches from using glucose as its primary fuel source to using stored fat for energy. Another important topic discussed during the workshop was the role of insulin. Every time we eat, our blood sugar rises and insulin is released to help move glucose into our cells. Repeated spikes in blood sugar throughout the day can make it harder for the body to regulate energy efficiently over time. Creating balanced meals that combine protein, healthy fats, fibre and complex carbohydrates can help keep blood sugar levels steadier, leaving you feeling energised and fuller for longer. Rather than reaching for sugary cereals or processed snacks first thing in the
morning, a balanced first meal can provide sustained energy, reduce cravings later in the day and support your overall health goals.
The key takeaway from the workshop was simple: Small nutritional improvements,
repeated consistently, can have a significant impact on your health over time.

Why Vitamins D3 and K2 Work Better Together
Nutrition isn't always about food alone. Sometimes, even with a healthy diet, it can
be difficult to obtain optimal levels of certain nutrients. Vitamin D3 and Vitamin K2
are a great example of two nutrients that work together. Vitamin D3 helps your body absorb calcium, while Vitamin K2 helps direct that
calcium to where it's needed most - your bones and teeth - rather than allowing it to build up in soft tissues.
Together they can help support:
Strong bones and teeth
Normal muscle function and strength
A healthy immune system
Healthy calcium absorption and utilisation
Cardiovascular health
Overall wellbeing
Vitamin D3 is often called the "sunshine vitamin", but many people in the UK don't
produce enough throughout the year due to limited sunlight. While supplementation is commonly associated with winter, maintaining healthy Vitamin D levels is important all year round.
Taking Vitamin D3 alongside Vitamin K2 can help ensure your body uses calcium
effectively, allowing you to maximise the benefits of supplementation.
The Benefits of Omega-3 Fish Oil
Another supplement discussed regularly when supporting overall health is Omega-3 fish oil.
Omega-3 fatty acids, particularly EPA and DHA, play an important role in many areas of the body and are naturally found in oily fish such as salmon, mackerel and sardines. Unfortunately, many people don't consume enough oily fish each week.
Supplementing with Omega-3 may help to:
Support heart and cardiovascular health
Promote healthy vision
Support joint comfort and mobility
Aid recovery after exercise
Contribute to overall health and wellbeing
When combined with regular exercise, a balanced diet, good hydration and quality sleep, Omega-3 can become another simple daily habit that supports long-term health.
Health is Built Through Consistency
There is no magic solution when it comes to improving your health. It's the
combination of regular exercise, good nutrition, quality sleep, effective recovery and consistent daily habits that delivers lasting results.
That's exactly why Forever Health Studios takes a whole-person approach to health and fitness. Through expert coaching, ongoing education, personalised programmes and a welcoming community, we're here to help our members build healthier habits that last a lifetime.
